Maui Electric Company (MECO) is a subsidiary of Hawaiian Electric Company. MECO provides the residents of the islands of Maui, Moloka`i, and Lana`i with electric power—including one fifth generated from renewable energy sources.
Kaua`i Island Utility Cooperative
The Kaua`i Island Utility Cooperative is a non-profit entity whose mission is to help develop a strategy to meet the goal of the Hawaiian legislature for 20 percent of the islands’ electricity to be generated from renewable sources by 2020.
